Greetings members of Protectors of Chaos, there is a cow dinging on your doorbell. A cow, without a home.

Availability
I’m able to raid almost every day from the week, except Friday evening. I have to work from 18:00 till 21:00 so I won’t be able to be there at the start of the raid. This is able to change in the future since I might switch shifts with a co-worker after summer.

Guilds
Knights of the Dragons
I’ve been in the guild Knights of the Dragons for a short time in late Burning Crusade on my alt rogue, Servantes. The reasons why I left was mostly: lack of attendance of fellow members, immature behavior of fellow members, corruption inside the guild (real life friends got promotions). I don’t know anything about this guild now, this is what it used to be when I was leveling my toon back then.

Wrath of the Lich king and forsaken
When the expansion released I decided to reroll a death knight named Runiq. I kept this toon unguilded until I was fully ready for a raiding guild. After a few weeks I managed to complete my wish list of heroic gear, best enchants and gems and craft able epics. Finally! I was ready for my first raiding guild. That’s when I joined the guild Forsaken. I had a great time in Forsaken, downed all WOTLK content and I gave my best to help Forsaken grow. So, why would I leave Forsaken? First of all, the most important reason is that a lot of my friends left. Two of them even switched to another server which is a big pain for me. Another reason is that Forsaken wasn’t able to get enough people for raids. I tried to set up my own guild-raids to clear some of the content but it wasn’t always appreciated by officers.

The future: Protectors of Chaos?
Completing 5 man heroic achievements is one of the few things-to-do before the patch. Once upon a day, when I was searching some members for the achievements in Gundrak, my path crossed the one of your member, Chimeras. We teamed up and… failed the ‘share the love’ achievement. All got impaled but it got reset due a member dying. We decided to keep on trying so we added each other in the friends list and we tried again later. This time (it was on a Friday) I met her boyfriend, Friday too! Together we managed to complete the achievement! Me and Chimeras stayed in touch and we eventually did some more heroic achievements and had some chats.
Now, this little story might not be that interesting but after my demise from Forsaken, I had a chat with Chimeras about it and she suggested that I should apply at Protectors of Chaos. And that is why I’m here! ”Ding-dong”

Raiding Experience
I’ve raided some in late Burning Crusade on my rogue. I managed to clear Gruul’s lair, Magtherion’s lair and a bit of Karazhan. When playing on my death knight, I’ve cleared Naxxramas 10 and 25, Obsidian Scantum 10 and 25(both with one drake up), Eye of Eternity 10 and 25 and, of course, 10 and 25 Vault of Archavon.

Your Role
Talents
My main role in a raid is DPSing. I have a deep unholy build at the moment for a demolishing DPS at packs and a decent DPS on single target. My plan is to have higher single target DPS after the patch. I will get a second build that will venture deep into the blood talent tree for single target DPS (bosses) and tanking. I’m also thinking about setting up a new pure AOE build for the packs between bosses. This will be a Frost and unholy build that extremely boosts my spell power but lowers my melee DPS. I’m not sure if I will go for this build since I would like to keep some melee DPS. I always have elixers, potions and foodbuffs in my bag ready to consume in the raid.
Talent tree link: http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-talents.xml?r=Runetotem&n=Runiq

Glyphs
I have the glyph of the ghoul, the glyph of death and decay and the glyph of scourge strike at the moment. The glyph of the ghoul is pretty nice since it will boost single target DPS. The ghoul usually does like 5-8% of my total DPS which is nice if every bit helps. Glyph of death and decay is pure for AOE. It does massive damage, usually aimed at packs with multiply mobs/bosses with adds etc. The scourge strike glyph is essential for a unholy DPS’er, I don’t have to refresh my diseases that much although I always miss the extra “ebon plague” from my talents when the proc from the glyph occurs. I will drop out the glyph of the ghould after patch 3.1 since I'm getting glyph of disease. It will help alot in keeping the mobs diseased at all time.

Gear, gems and enchants
As you can see in my armory profile I have decent gear, although I lack some expertise. I’m way over my hit cap so I should switch out some gear in the future. My gems are focussed at strength since the paladin buff will give me some extra attack power in groups and in raids. I also have the talent which increases my strength with 3%. It’s not many but It increases some attack power. I have obtained some decent tank gear which contains some blues and a few epics.

You might have noticed that I have two crafting professions. I aim at the highest DPS possible so I’ve put a lot of work in training both jewel crafting and blacksmithing (trained mining first to farm the materials). The professions give me two extra sockets and 3 times a 27 strength gem. I thought about getting other professions that are easier to raise but blacksmithing and jewelcrafting will give around 7 or 8 points of attack power more than other professions outside raids. The profession benefits give even more inside raids due the paladin buffs! And that’s where I am doing it for, perfection.

I have the best enchants available on my toon. I have the exalted required Son’s of Hodir shoulder enchant, the head enchant from Knights of the Ebon Blade, the epic leg armor enchant from leatherworking, + attack power enchant on boots(32), bracer(50) and glove(44), the extra belt buckle, 22 agility on my cloak and the +10 stats enchant on chest.

Not showed here:
Omen threat meter

I don’t use omen at the moment since I don’t draw aggro in a raid due the tanks doing loads of damage these days. Will activate it if you wish.

Personal Information
My name is Sven Boudewijn, I’m 18 years old and I live in Zaltbommel, the Netherlands. I’m in my last year of HAVO at the moment and I’m planning to do a mathematics study together with part time work next year. I’m currently working at Expert, a electronics store in Zaltbommel. I like to listen to pure american hiphop and go out some in the weekends with my girlfriend or friends.

I started to play official WoW in late Burning crusade. I used to play some vanilla WoW on a private server for a short time but that is none of importance. The reason for playing WoW was actually to have something to do together with my girlfriend. I leveled together with her to 70. When Wrath of the Lich King came out she started a new toon, a paladin and I rerolled a death knight. We are both level 80 now and we do some heroics together to help her obtaining some gear.

Some day I hope to raid alongside my girlfriend so you might see a (Social?)application of my girlfriend if I am able to convince you of my skills.

I had to post a real life picture. As you all know, a picture says more than a thousand words!

Edit: moved to Picture Thread

Well, that was it about me. Thanks a lot for reading and I’m hoping for a chance to prove myself.

Hi Runiq, and thanks for putting a lot of effort into your application, all looks good. We'll discuss it, and get back to you real soon.

One question though: ideally we are looking for a DK who is as comfortable dps'ing as they are main tanking, what sort of experience have you had tanking in wotlk so far, and how do you feel about this?

Thanks.

Hello Runiq!
I'm very happy to see your application on our forum!

I played with him on heroics and we got a great time together. He is a nice guy and a very nice player (the best DK I ever seen outside PoC)

Good luck for you application Runiq!

Hello again,

Thanks a lot for the fast and kind replies! Gristle, I forgot to mention more about tanking in my application. Very sorry about that.

I have to admit that I don't have real main tanking experience like being a main tank in instances like Naxxramas, Eye of Eternity and so forth. I have offtanked some in Naxxramas such as the adds at Anub'Rekhan and Kel Tuzad. I have also tanked some in normal instances such as Drak'Tharon Keep and Azjol Nerub as a unholy tank in my quest to level 80.

I'm a fast learner and friends that know me from the beginning say that I have learned and grow a lot in a relatively short amount of time. So simply: I’m happy to tank anytime you need me to and I would love to learn more about tanking itself. I do know a bit about it of course and I’ve read some guides but if there is any addition of knowledge anyone would like to give me, I’m open for it.
If there exist a special-PoC-tanking-school please count me in!

I already mentioned that I have obtained some decent tank gear which contains some blues and a few epics.

Hope this answers your question,

Runiq

Hello Protectors of Chaos,

I would like to inform you that I have obtained the Tempered Titansteel boots and helmet to upgrade my tank gear. Just letting you know that I'm working on being more functional for your ranks.

EDIT(15-04-08):
Update on tank gear to replace the few blue's:
[Platinum Mesh Cloak]
[Signet of the Impregnable Fortress]
[Kyzoc's Ground Stompers] (Shouldn't have made the tempered boots)

Hi Runiq. After lengthy discussion we have decided to decline your application. The main reason for this is that we are looking for a death knight who has a lot of tanking experience - ideally enough that they could be a suitable main tank for some fights in Ulduar. Unfortunately we are not sure you have this experience yet, or the gear that would be required. Best of luck finding a good guild for yourself.

“Ding-Dong”And there I was again. Runiq, a lone cow without a home in front of the Gates of Protectors of Chaos.

After the decline
After being declined from Protectors of Chaos I decided to venture into the social aspect of the game. I helped some friends, played on my girlfriends character and completed some achievements. After a short while I started to miss raiding. I still played with old Forsaken friends and they suggested that I should come back. A few talks with some of the officers later, I was accepted into Forsaken again.

Forsaken lost a lot of good players in the weeks before Ulduar released. The attendance dropped a lot too. When Ulduar released, more started to come online and we could eventually bring a 25 man raid a few times in a week. Due the loss of the good players, Forsaken needed to accept a lot of new applicants. Some of these were not ready for Ulduar. This resulted in Naxxramas 25 runs again. Due the pre-Ulduar instance farming didn’t we do any progression on 25 Ulduar runs. We eventually got Flame Leviathan down and some more bosses on the 10 man version. The 10 man teams were formed out of the elite such as officers and old members so we were able to make some progress.

WoW became boring for me because I wasn’t able to see the new content and make proper progress. I was declined due the lack of tanking experience so I started to work more on my tanking equipment and experience. After a good deal of research and a few talks with fellow Death Knights I came out with a good tanking spec with a huge TPS. I started to off-tank adds in Ulduar 10. After that, I main tanked Naxxramas 10, Naxxramas 25 and Satharion 25. Later did I off tanked the adds from the new boss in VOA, both 10 and 25. As a tank I’m using the death strike, disease and rune strike glyph. The death strike glyph is just a must for a blood tank. The disease glyph is handy since I don’t have scourge strike in blood spec and the rune strike glyph adds up a lot DPS which gives the needed TPS too.

Tanking is fun but my heart still lies at DPS’ing. I love to button bash and do my rotations as fast as possible. My old DPS build got nerfed after 3.1 so I needed to do a lot of research and testing about a new suitable DPS build. I tried several DPS builds as blood, frost and a new formed Unholy build. The last one fitted me the best. I’ve been Unholy DPS from the start and I was familiar with the rotations. I’m now DPS’ing in a 0/10/61 build and I’m using the Dark death, scourge strike and ghoul glyph. This build misses the Physical damage from blood but it adds up a lot of Magic damage. The combination of Necrosis and Black ice add up the loss from blood. I had to get use to the Death Coils with this spec. Black Ice, Dirge, the Dark Death glyph add up a lot in it. I wasn’t familiar with using Death Coil a lot. Now I’m use to it and I believe I’m even doing more damage than before. The ghoul is extremely strong too, it’s important to keep the frenzy up at all time and It could do like 15% or more of the damage.

Leaving Forsaken
After doing several half-cleared Naxxramas runs and wiping at Malygos nI started to feel miserable about being in Forsaken again. I’m the type of person that likes to raid more Hardcore instead of casual 10 man raiding with rarely a 25 man raid. I raided several bosses in Ulduar 10 man from Flame Leviathan up to Thorim but I never was able to see more than a Flame Leviathan 25 man kill with not even a full raid. I started to be boring about WoW again and I started to play less. I eventually started to play on my brothers Nintendo DS out of boredom!

Then, there came change. Some of my best friends that I’ve met on WoW persuaded their officers to let me join a Ulduar 25 raid. I haven’t had so much fun in ages and I kept smiling in front of my computer(Nerd huh?). The raid opened my eyes and after that I made my decision to leave Forsaken once again to search for a good hardcore raiding guild. I thought about my friend Chimeras and her boyfriend Friday who persuade me once of applying and I thought that I should have a shot at Protectors of Chaos again since I’ve been working a lot on tanking gear and the needed experience. I contacted a officer and had a little chat. There might be a small chance for me to persuade the Protectors of Chaos of my skills. So here I am, at the gates of Protectors of Chaos, once again.

UI-Upgrade
After the first attempt of joining Protectors of Chaos I had a little chat with Gristle. There were some questions and suggestions about my UI. After that I decided to try out some more add-ons now and then. By now, I’ve builded a UI that suits me. I still got the same set up with the bars from back then since I’m used to the amount of buttons I can press and click.

The add-ons that I’m using now:
Titanpanel Coordinates, durability(A real plus), fit’s with the perl frames.
Xperl frames Better overview.
Sexymap The name says it.
Bartender 4 The same set up as before, love the ammount of buttons I can click to improve DPS.
RuneWatch This one is extremely helpful, Gristle gave me the idea to get a add-on which gives me the ability to see my runes easier. Thanks again.
Omen Threat Meter A must when you have the 0/10/61 spec.
EDIT: I forgot to mention the Itemrack addon, not showed here. For the tank and DPS switch.

Well, there isn’t more that I can say. I’ve listed the things that changed. Other information is in my first application. Thanks for reading and I’m hoping, once again for a chance to prove myself.

Evning Elspeth of forsaken here. Im acting GM of Forsaken in revamps absence due to nearly cutting of his finger in reallife. As a rule we dont bother holding ppl back if they choose to leave. And instead wish them luck and leave it to that. This time with runiq however that is not prudent and this is simply to protect POC from what they dont know and information that is withheld from you. The application seems swell enough but a huge part of it is incorrect and blatant lies. Minor things like wipes on maly etcetc is semi irrelvant. And his version of why we have raided less latly is also incorrect to say the least and also irrelvant i assume.

However some parts that is not is not is how he left first time which was due to self interest mainly. Sure its ok to look out for ureself but part of a team ofcourse. not JUST yourself. ok so he left and applied here to POC, got denied due to lack of tank gear and came crawling back to us to raid again, and sadly we belived his speach that he wanted to come "home" and raid with us again. What he realy did was roll for all tank gear he could get his hands on to progress his application here apperantly. Cuz now he got accepted due to tanking ready. Which is sad to see since u has been decived as well as we have.

He stated some week ago that he couldnt play much lately due to exams yet in his application he state he can raid every day? wierd...... or a blatant lie in his application. Fact is he asked me for becoming classleader about 3 days ago and aim was to get the class ready for uldar ( his words ) and since then he been online for 4 to 5 hours and doing pug raids. NOT in our scedaled raids.

To me and rest of forsaken its pretty evident that Runiq isnt playing with straigth with us , and nor you. So my suggestion is that u follow this one very close on his attendance and what he does and say. No im not calling him a lieying son of ... not at all, just a liar which is sorta obvious. And i hate to see a old guild poc get a black sheep into their fold without knowing it.

In either case i wish you all good luck in and out of the game

Elspeth of forsaken

PS! if either fact need to be checked fell free to talk to me or zhomb or evilnature or infact ANY officer or class leader of forsaken.

Hi Elspeth.

I accept that it is always frustrating to lose a valuable guild member to another, and it's certainly something we have had some experience of ourselves in PoC. I don't appreciate the manner in which you've gone about venting this frustration though.

If you had legitimate concerns, you would have been much better off either contacting one of our officers in game, or PMing one of us here. Making a post like this on our application forum doesn't really reflect well on anybody and only serves to create unnecessary drama.

Furthermore, your comments are very much at odds with what we have been told by a number of Runiq's former guildmates. We have been told in no uncertain terms that Runiq is an excellent player and loyal guildmate, and that he will be a massive benefit to our guild. I am inclined to believe this.

Once again, if you have any more concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me in game or via PM here, but I would appreciate it if you would refrain from posting such comments on our application forum.

Thanks.
