Character Name:
Rhialdor

Race & Class (Specc):
Blood Elf
Hunter
MM

Current Server:
Runetotem

Armory Link:
http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Runetotem&n=Rhialdor

Play time:
I play almost everyday from 16.30 - about 00.00.
I can attend to all the raids if I don't got a big asignement at school, but that shouldn't be a problem.

Previous Guilds:
I havent been in any active guilds, but I have been raiding a bit with Reverence.

Reasons for Applying:
I've decided to apply to the guild because I like to raid and like doing progress.
I have chosen PoC because you seems like an serious guild and you dont only try to clear instances, but you also make it a challenge by doing the achievements aswell.

Raiding Experience:
I started to play WoW about 6 months after TBC and cleared; everything except SP, BT, 4 last bosses in Hyjal and Lady Vasj in SSC.
In WotLK I've cleared All instances except Oculus. Atm is Ulduar my goal, but at the same time i want to have fun with raiding, guildies and things like that.
I always prepare myself before raids to really know the tacts so i dont make any mistakes.

My Role:
Well... As a hunter i will do my best to keep a steady-high dps in raids and help out when it's needed. (Tranq, MD and kiting)
My current gear is above the average and I'm happy with my choises conserning gems, glyphs and specc. (I will specc Survival to see if there is any improvements there) I'm working on the hit-rating atm, and I know I should use some other gems for that, but preferes AP.
I got about 3,2 k dps and are always ready to raid with flask and food-buffs ready.

Personal Information:
I'm 18 years old. I'm from Horten, Norway. Atm I'm stuck at school studying sports and doing it (I play football myself).
I have played WoW about 1,5 years.
I'm very humble, maybe to much in some settings. I'm happy all the time like my dog Happy :) Atm I am out driving every opportunity I got because I just got my driving license

(I have written more down the page)

Well you picked a good time to apply, we are looking for a hunter for sure. I would like to know a bit more about you though - can you talk more about your playstyle?

Do you use macros? What pet? What rotation? What's your highest dps? What consumables? Just tell me as much as you can.

I use a macro with Steady Shot/Kill Command, the rest is based on what situation the fight is.
I'm using Cat as pet, most dmg imo. The highest dps is 3,2 k, but wasnt the best specc... Flask of Endless Rage and food buff that gives my pet 30 strength and Dalaran Clam Chowder.(I use the epic arrows i get from The Scale Of The Sands) My playstyle... I love raiding but doing some pvp on the side. (higest rating is 1800) In raids i go for crit-dps, not very steady atm, thats why I'm going to specc Survival. My UI is posted at the galleries!

Hi Rhialdor, just a couple of questions if you please.

Though I am pleased to see you have the best enchants available (aside from on your melee weapon), I'm interested to understand your gemming choices - you are using 2 +24 stam gems in your gear, also isnt the +21 agility meta gem better for you than +21 crit?

You seem to be quite a long way under the hitcap, and I'm glad you recognise this in your app. Are you aware of the priority of the various stats you need? Preferring AP is okay, but if it turns out hit is the more valuable stat, then you need to go with maths rather than feelings. I don't know whether it is, but maybe you could let me know what your stat priorities are in your current spec.

Finally (for now!) what Glyphs are you currently using, and can you explain your choices please?

Sorry for so many questions, but this is information I would have liked to see in your application.

Thanks,
Gris.

No problem :) The gemming choises was that I wanned the bonus and there wasnt any other gems at AH at that time. The reason for the +21 crit instead of agi is that I'm going for crit dps (not stabile dps) wich i'm going to change. I'm preffering AP now, before the patch because hit doesnt scale very good atm, but after the patch it will be usefull. The glyphs that I'm currently usin is Major; Glyph of Steady Shot, of Volley and of Hunter's Mark. Minor; Glyph of Possessed Strength, of Feign Death and of Scare Beast. My priorities in the current specc is AP and having mana lasting the boss-fightes while kinda "nuking". I also get AP from Intellect with this specc. Now i made some changes about the gemming, and the reason for the +hit-stamina gem on the gloves is that i need one blu gem for the meta slot.

Why?

Why?

Hi Rhialdor, allow me to give you some feedback on your application as you request.

There's an old quote that goes "You only get one chance to make a good first impression", and I'm sorry to say that your application in the first instance didn't really give us a good first impression. There wasn't the sort of information in it that we would like to see, that informs us about you personally, and also your class knowledge.

As we are currently looking for a serious hunter to round out our team for Ulduar, we gave you a second chance to impress us by asking some further questions. Unfortunately you didn't grasp this chance as we would have hoped, and therefore we had to decline your application to trial.

As a minimum we would expect potential applicants to have had a good look at our recruitment forums, and see which applications obviously impressed us, leading to trial, and which applications were too poor for us to consider, leading to a decline, and write an application of a similar quality to those successful ones. It's what I would do if I was writing an application to any guild.

Here are good examples of applications that merited a trialship, note how the applicants leave us in no doubt that they understand their class, and what it takes to raid at the level that we expect all PoC players to play at:

Naxxmodan (http://www.protectorsofchaos.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=3404)

Cysne (http://www.protectorsofchaos.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=3465)

Datalord (http://www.protectorsofchaos.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=3331)

Kreznar (http://www.protectorsofchaos.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=3416)

We do have high standards for applicants, and we find that this reassures our existing players that they are valued, and that PoC is moving in the right direction as a progression-focussed raiding guild. Your application left us with too many questions, as it didn't leave us with the feeling that enough effort had gone into it, which made us sceptical as to how much you really wanted to take your chance to apply for a trial.

I hope this answers your question satisfactorily. Good luck in your future adventures.

I have nothing against Karderina, but he's/her's app is not very different than mine... Just a bit curious why he did get a trial when you have so high standards?

It's not our policy to discuss the reasons why another individual's application was accepted for trial (particularly when that person is actually still on trial) to unsuccessful applicants.

Thanks,
Gristle.

You didn't get in because you don't seem to know your class to the level we need you to.

You should read elitistjerks or BRK, run some spreadsheets. There's no such thing as preferring crit dps or not liking hit - you just have to do what the spreadsheet says is best.
