I hit 80 last night, so I’ve just started looking at what I can easily upgrade on my own. One or two pieces I wear just to look different, since I’d been wearing the exact same thing since September last year. Talents are also subject to change, I just threw something together while I leveled and I misclicked at least once. Paying attention is the key to success.

What are your normal playing hours? How many days per week (Monday-Friday) are you regularly available to raid?

Monday-Thursday won’t be a problem. I gotta admit, I’m a bit unsure about Fridays, but usually I don’t do anything special. Can’t drink myself into a stupor every week now, can I?

Previous Guilds

I stopped playing in September 2007, the guild I was in at the time doesn’t exist anymore. In fact, I haven’t been able to find a single active player from it. I couldn’t have dreamt it all, could I?
I transferred to Runetotem to join Morrigan. In hindsight, that probably wasn’t the best idea I’ve ever had. Reason for this is that I was insanely bored with the game. I’ve paid for a month here and there during this time, when I felt the urge to play come back, for example getting the Shattered Sun title, only to quit again after about a week. Anyway, when patch 3.0 was released I felt the urge again. I happened to see a post about Morrigan on the Guild Recruitment forum, and made an application. I got in and transferred. Unfortunately that was right about the time the server was “a bit” unstable and by the time everything was working again I had grown sick of it all once more. If I had to log in and fly over Terokkar one more time I would probably go insane. I decided to leave them and just wait for WotLK rather than hang around and be useless and meaningless.

Why have you decided to find a new guild, and specifically, why PoC?

I’m too cheap to transfer and this is the only one I haven’t tried?
No, seriously though, while I am too cheap to pay for a transfer I haven’t tried to get in to all the other guilds. I’ve always been on a PvP-server so being on a PvE-server for once is kinda nice and I want to stay here. I’ve always reached for the top, and as far as I can tell, PoC is the highest you can get on Runetotem. One other important reason is maturity. I can’t tell you how important that is to me. I am so sick of guilds where the /gchat is nothing more than “you mama”, “emo” or something similar. I am all for some joking and whatnot but preferably at an intellectual level higher than that of a flock of seagulls. Besides, the whole “person, not character” thing you got going was probably the biggest reason I decided to throw together an application. Not using DKP is also a big plus, since in my experience that makes people play for the points and not for the fun of it. And to continue on the same track as I left in the previous paragraph, growing bored of it all and just quitting again is unlikely to happen. Compared to Outland, Northrend is a lot awesomer (I just made that a word) in every way. Lorewise, atmosphere, settings and so on. It all makes me not wanna rest until the Lich King is on his knees.
Not to mention, this is the perfect time to join a new guild, I think. Instead of jumping in right in the middle of something, you’re there from the start which in my mind is a big advantage.

What have you achieved so far in WoW, both prior to, and during The Burning Crusade? What are your goals for the future?

My achievements before TBC is not something to write home about, since it consisted of getting 1 character to level 45. I bought a new computer just about the time TBC was released, so that was when I really started playing. In TBC I cleared everything (apart from Illidan, I quit the game before we downed him) pretty early. As I mentioned above, I stopped playing in September last year, so I was one of those lucky people who had the pleasure of banging my head against the wall known as Kael’Thas.
As for the future, I want to get as far as possible. I quit before I downed Illidan in BC, which I kinda regret, and this time I want to see it all. I want to see the Lich King on his knees. That’s as far as I’ve “planned”. I just want to see all the content, preferably before it’s nerfed to the ground.

Your Role

My role is to tank. If I can’t tank I am useless. I don’t know how to DPS. I’ve tried, but I got beaten by the healers. I tried PvP once too, but a grand total of 1300 HKs says it all. Standing in the forefront, being responsible (to a certain degree) for a kill or a failure is quite exhilarating. I like the pressure of having to perform and all that. On the other hand, I am the kind of guy who doesn’t care if he’s tanking the boss or standing behind it to apply TC or DS or SA or whatever. I just like being in raids, and contribute in whatever way would suit the guild best at any given time. I really thrive though, when I know exactly what do to and I am in total control of the situation, keeping an eye on everything and at the same time looping the opening riff to Megadeth – Hangar 18, or any other asskicking song (which I obviously don’t do if I have to listen/talk to/on vent/TS at the same time. Hearing me singing along would probably divert some of the focus). I try to read up as much as possible on tanking in general and always strive to improve. “The day you stop learning is the day you die”, as the ancient Greeks used to say (they seem to have said everything else at least).

I won’t say I am the greatest tank who ever graced Earth with his presence, or that I never fuck up or something just as ridiculous. Suffice it to say, I know what to do, I very seldom make the same mistake twice, and I don’t rely on anyone else telling me what to do, I can think for myself.

Personal Information

I’m a typical Swedish guy, 22 years old, with long, blonde hair and blue eyes. I like walks on the bea.. Sorry, I got carried away.

I started playing WoW sometime in 2005 but started playing for real in early 2007. I’ve always been a gamer, I still remember the first time I ran through the first level in SMW on the SNES when I was 5 years old. I can’t envision what I would do if I couldn’t play games. My girlfriend would probably be happy if stopped though. WoW was my first MMO and I always come back to it, despite starting out in Vanguard, LoTR:O and AoC.

Apart from games I spend my spare time watching ice-hockey, reading books, and listening to good music, everything from Led Zeppelin to Watain. If it’s not hard rock or some kind of metal, I am not interested. And not if it’s nu-metal either, but does anyone above the age of 13 really think any of those bands are metal? Doubtful. Man, do I sound like a cliché.. I’m not bald, wear thick glasses or have a beer belly though. I do however look like Meat Loaf. If you own a copy of the Bat out of Hell vinyl, take a look on the back. That’s me, though I am thinner. This part almost makes me doubt the part about a girlfriend. I wonder if she made a bet with someone?
Anyway, I digress.

I am a big fan of comedy, especially from the UK. Monty Python’s Flying Circus, Fawlty Towers, Little Britain, everything Ricky Gervais has touched. My own sense of humor is a bit more on the sarcastic and ironic side though. I can be downright mean sometimes, but always with a spark in my eye.

I am currently studying to become a business lawyer in Linköping. I’ve got 1 ½ years to go, then I am ready to take on the world. A tank. A lawyer. A tank who is also a lawyer? Priceless! If there are any Swedes in the guild, I can help them out with legal advice, though if they want to win in court, I’d do better to give advice to the defendant. If you hadn’t noticed by now, I use more commas than anyone should do.

On a final note, if I am deemed not worthy I wish you the best in the future!
(Man, did I write too fucking much or what? Never let my mind run free without supervision, I need my own personal censor!)

Man, did I write too fucking much or what?

Nope. That's pretty much what we were looking for.

In fact could you provide some additional info about how you play your warrior? What spec do you intend to use for raiding? Why are you going to choose those particular talents? What abilities do you use when tanking a boss, or a bunch of three or four adds?

We'll discuss your application in the mean time.

But of course.
As of right now, the build I'm considering is 8/8/55 (not written in stone at all, I am open for all kinds of suggestions). Deflection, obviously, and imp HS. I was thinking of going a bit deeper but decided against it for now. Cruelty for some bigger numbers, and armored to the teeth to raise my AP from the abysmal level I'm used to (I haven't really gotten a chance to try out the new abilities yet so if I'm entirely on the wrong track somewhere, feel free to point me in the right direction). I went for vigilance and warbringer since extra threat can never be a bad thing, and charging in defensive stance lessens the need for imp bloodrage and it might be helpful in any number of situations. Once I've tried it out, I might reconsider some of the choices but right now, as I said, this is what I'm thinking. Other than that, as you can see on my armory-profile, there's not anything special going on.

When tanking a boss I rotate shieldslam and revenge as often as possible. In between I use devestate and HS for some ragedump. Depending on the raid-setup, I'd throw in some TC and DS, but usually there's someone else on that duty. Or, perhaps not usually, but in my experience that's often the case.
A bunch of adds are easier to tank than ever now, TC and SW to keep them in check and then some extra focus on the one that's going down while tabbing around once in a while to keep an eye on the others.

For some reason I find it hard to put words to the way I play. I really don't think about what I'm doing when I'm doing it. As long as I keep the mob or boss on me and noone dies, I'm happy.

This is a good app - how often would you be looking to raid, and are you certain you won't become bored with the game again?

I want to raid as much as possible. Though, being a new tank in a guild I realise I have to work my way in and that I can't expect to get a place in every raid. I have no problem with that.

And as for the other question, all I can say is that it took me slightly more than 6 months to grow bored with TBC the first time, and WotLK is better in every way.
So, yes, I am certain I won't stop playing again anytime soon. As I said, I want to see Arthas on his knees. That's my goal, and I have every intention of seeing it through.

Hi again. We have a load of warriors at present, so we wouldn't be able to offer you any raiding unfortunately. On that, we'll have to decline your application.
