The Citadel of Naxxramas
Several members of Protectors of Chaos have decided that we want to revisit Naxxramas before the upcoming patch obliterates this version from our lives. So, with this goal in mind, we have decided to organise a raid on this Saturday (11/10/08) to do just that. Unfortunately, for a variety of reasons we are unable to staff this purely from within the guild and are therefore opening this up to other raiding guilds.
This raid is completely unofficial. It will not be led by Protectors of Chaos Raid Leaders, who have all chosen not to spoil the content before WotLK hits. I personally only have experience of three wings in the instance and several fights will be new to me as I suspect it will be to many others. Consequently, we are extremely interested in anyone who has cleared the instance (plague wing and death knight wing particularly) in helping us organise this raid. We will be looking for a minimum of 30-35 people (4 tanks, 8-10 healers) and if we cannot achieve this we will have to consign Naxxramas40 to the annals of history (we want this many so we can get through as quickly as possible). Once again, a tank leader who knows the instance would be great and a healer leader who has experience of Naxx would be very welcome – if not we may have to rely on Rids for healing assignments :/
This invite is only open to those who are members of guilds currently tackling T6/Sunwell content. This is not an attempt to be elitist, but individual competence is important as one person can wipe a raid – particularly in Naxx – and this is our last chance to get the instance completed. Being part of a successful guild proves that you have the competence and the desire to complete WoW content and are skilled enough in your class. We expect every potential raider to want to complete the 4 wings in the instance and to have the resilience to accept that there may be mistakes and we may have repair bills. Many will have never experienced a boss fight here and it is easy to make mistakes in new content. I hope to have zero wipes of course, but we have to be realistic. If we clear the 4 wings then this also provides a nice level of cash too.
YOU MUST BE ATTUNED
Attunement
You can attune yourself to Naxxramas at Light’s Hope Chapel. Simply bring the following items based on your Argent Dawn reputation:
Honored: 5x Arcane Crystal, 2x Nexus Crystal, 60 gold, and 1x Righteous Orb
Revered: 2x Arcane Crystal, 1x Nexus Crystal, 30 gold
Exalted: Free
Also, make sure you collect the Echoes of War quest available from Light’s Hope Chapel so if you do get a T3 token you will be able to hand it in.
Tactics / Stratagies
In Protectors of Chaos we depend on other people to understand the fights and do not use Vent or Teamspeak. So, every person MUST know the boss fights before Saturday. A list of the fights and tactics can be found below.
We will be using the strategies detailed therein with slight amendments, but please read and understand how each individual boss will try and kill you and what the role of your class will be. We will Spider Wing -> Abomination Wing -> Plague Wing -> Death-Knight Wing
At level 70 many of these will be walkovers, but just as many require aptitude and good reflexes and will not allow mistakes. Naxx is still a challenge and several bosses in particular require you to at least have several brain cells. Healers / decursers make sure your addons are setup for 40 man raiding.
Anub’Rekhan http://www.anikki.com/do/viewtopic.php?t=230
It is our intention to burn him down before the first Carrion Swarm even happens. Focus fire on him and simply off-tank the adds.
Grand Widow Faerlina http://www.anikki.com/do/viewtopic.php?t=232
Same. Kill her before her first enrage just offtanking the adds.
Maexxna http://www.anikki.com/do/viewtopic.php?t=231
Should die right after the first web spray.
Patchwerk http://www.anikki.com/do/viewtopic.php?t=1507
This fight will actually need some thoughtful and competent tank / off-tank healing so if you are a healer please become acquainted with this fight. We will use one MT, 2 OTs.
Grobbulus http://www.anikki.com/do/viewtopic.php?t=242
Should die fast but everyone should know what to do if they get Mutating Injection.
Gluth http://www.anikki.com/do/viewtopic.php?t=243
He should die before the first decimate, but any potential tankadin must know what to do with the chow zombies.
Thaddius http://www.anikki.com/do/viewtopic.php?t=244
If you’ve survived the first boss in heroic Mechanar then you should know how the positive and negative charges work on him. Still many may die and this should prove to be one of the more difficult encounters.
Noth the Plaguebringer http://www.anikki.com/do/viewtopic.php?t=806
He should die before the first port. But decursers will still be important to this fight. Think Shazzrah for those who remember MC.
Heigan the Unclean http://www.tentonhammer.com/node/26647
You must learn how to dance! No, seriously, you must learn the pattern of the eruptions or you will die. The link has a great flash animation to let you get used to what will be required. Likely to wipe a few times here. Give this boss as much of your reading up time as you can. Watch vids etc.
Loatheb http://www.tentonhammer.com/node/26650
Bring bandages, healing pots and he should die. Healers acquaint yourself with the necessary healing rotations.
Instructor Razuvious http://www.tentonhammer.com/node/26642
Might be possible to actually get a well geared tank on Razuvious but shadow priests make sure you know how to control the apprentices and where things are on your pet bar. If you are a mana user make sure you know what to do on Disrupting Shout.
Gothik the Harvester http://www.tentonhammer.com/node/26651
Killing adds should be very easy as should burning him down after he appears.
Four Horsemen http://www.wowwiki.com/Four_Horsemen_%28original%29
We may have to rotate the tanks and healers like at lvl 60 (depending on the tanks gear) but may be able to burn the first two down and then rotate with the final two.
It is unlikely we will be able to kill Sapphiron or journey on to KT. Sapphiron still requires frost res - @70 200 is a minimum – but if by some miracle we could populate the raid with people who have that level of frost resistance on them then great.
Anyone who acts inappropriately, without regard to the rest of the raid, or is proven to be utterly incompetent will be asked to leave the raid after one warning has been issued.
Raid Timings
The raid will be starting at 19:30 server time, with invites starting @ 19:00. If you would like to attend then send me a message (stating class and spec) using the in-game mail and I will add you to the list. If you do have frost res, make this known too.
Loot
All loot will be on a /roll system. (Except one mage T3 shoulder drop of course – yes seriously). If you currently have splinters and are incredibly close to completing your legendary (there might be one of you out there) then make this known to me in your mail.
May the Gods be with us! Spread the word!
